Thomas O’Duffy is a Digital Strategist who assists progressive companies in making the most of (sometimes unseen) opportunities, and to look into the future (and around the corner) to be better prepared to thrive in the environments of tommorow.
Thomas has been doing online-marketing, professionally, since 1996. During this time he has assisted several firms in growing to be the largest in their niche in the World, and many more to gain more customers and make more money. His clients include a variety of Start Ups, Private Equity companies, one of Ireland’s largest PR firms, Training Companies, Industry Associations, Celebrities and Authors.
Thomas has a vast experience of online marketing & sales processes, and combines this with the ability to be highly creative and technically aware, to innovate rapidly and precisely, conscious of business priorities and the behaviour of modern consumers. Thomas has a BA (Hons) in Information and Communications Technology from Trinity College Dublin, and is an Advanced Master Practitioner and Trainer of NLP (licensed by the Society of NLP).
Interesting Projects
Thomas has been fortunate to have been involved in many interesting and fun projects, including:
GII Junior Summit
In 1995, Thomas was selected to represent the UK & Ireland in Tokyo, Japan at the GII Junior Summit. The GII Junior Summit was conceived by Isao Okawa (former CEO of Sega) who recognised that youth often understood technology better than adults. Thomas led the Education Group, exploring applications of then emerging Internet Technologies to improve education. He co-wrote a white paper that was presented to the G8 Summit Roundtable in South Africa, 1996.
Nation.1
Thomas co-founded Nation.1; a kids country with borders defined by technology and age (instead of geography and race) at a conference in the MIT Media Lab in 1997. Thomas wrote a proclamation that was featured in Nicholas Negroponte’s column in Wired Magazine. Nation.1 was later merged into TakingItGlobal.org; now the Worlds largest online community for youth interested in global issues and positive change.
Avoca.com
In 1998, Thomas created one of Ireland’s first online shops, Avoca.com, which, in 1999, evolved into an interactive story book. The artwork for Avoca.com was done by Cartoon Saloon (who were recently nominated for an Oscar) and the site received great acclaim. The site is still online at: www.avoca.com
TaxBack.com
Thomas ran the website for TaxBack.com (formerly, European Student Services) from 1997 to 2002. During this time he provided key strategic advice, including recommending they create a database driven document workflow system, and he also set up their affiliate system in 2002. TaxBack.com grew rapidly during this period, and is now the Worlds largest processor of international tax refunds.
